Racing Louisville coach Bev Yanez’s op-ed in The Courier-Journal calls for the city to support its only top-tier professional sports team.
In her column, Yanez talks about her soccer journey and how far women’s sports have come. Here’s a snippet of her message to the community:
Women’s sports are rising. Attendance is booming. TV audiences are skyrocketing, and sponsorship dollars are flowing.
The WNBA has flourished. College sports have too. And last year, Sportico labeled the National Women’s Soccer League the fastest-growing professional sports league in the U.S. Racing Louisville, the team I coach, plays in that league.
That’s why I’m writing you: Our team needs more support. Our players need your support.
