Racing Louisville FC’s W League side saw its five-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday night as the club fell by a of 3-1 score on the road at Indy Eleven.
A win would’ve catapulted Racing’s pre-professional team into first place in the league’s Great Lake Division. Instead, the loss held the club in second, maintaining a second place position at 5-2-2 and 17 points on the season.
Racing’s lone goal came by way of hand ball in the box to set up a 75th-minute penalty kick. Emily Madril – who received this week a call up the the U.S. U-23s with first teamer Savannah DeMelo – buried the penalty right past Indy’s goalkeeper into bottom-right corner of the net.
Indy Eleven previously opened the scoring in the 29th minute, taking advantage of a breakaway to score from the top right corner of the box. The division leaders then went on to add on two more goals in the 57th and 61st minutes.
Racing returns home Wednesday against AFC Ann Arbor at the Lynn Family Sports Vision and Training Center. Home games are open to the public and free to attend.
