Emily Madril shined with a first half assist and then a 90th minute equalizer as Racing Louisville FC’s W League squad completed a 2-2 comeback draw to snag a point on the road at AFC Ann Arbor on Friday.
It was Racing who opened scoring in the 46th minute as Louisville’s Sarah Hernandez nodded in a free kick from distance from Florida State University’s Madril to send the squad into the halftime break with the lead.
AFC Ann Arbor was quick to answer as they forced a turnover on Racing’s half of the field and beat goalkeeper Macy Enneking to score the equalizer on the first play of the second half. The home side would then go on to take the lead in the 74th minute, once again capitalizing on a Racing turnover.
Racing Louisville wasn’t to leave Michigan without a point, however, as Madril snuck the equalizer past Ann Arbor’s goalkeeper in the 90th minute after a buildup starting with Enneking that saw four forward passes completed before it was headed in front of the goalscorer.
With Friday’s result, Racing’s USL W League team — a pre-professional group composed of college and youth academy standouts — moved to a 4-1-2 record in its inaugural season.
Racing will be back in action on Sunday, when the group travels to Midwest United FC. Kickoff at Mayors Riverfront Park is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
