Racing Louisville FC has welcomed key members of its squad back from international duty inside of three weeks from kickoff to the 2022 season.
As of Tuesday evening’s league deadline to trim rosters to 32 or fewer players, 25 are in camp — including U.S. Women’s National Team members Emily Fox and Jaelin Howell fresh off their victory in the recent SheBelieves Cup.
Preparations are leading up to the NWSL Challenge Cup, a tournament that will consist of six group stage games before whittling participants to four semifinalists. Racing opens the Challenge Cup on March 18 when hosting the KC Current at Lynn Family Stadium.
Among changes since preseason training started, forward Cheyna Matthews has moved off the active roster. A mother of two, Matthews and her husband, Jordan, are expecting their third child later this year.
Additionally, third-round 2022 NWSL Draft Pick Jenna Menta and Sadie Sider-Echenberg, a trialist from the University of Ottawa, have departed camp.
Two preseason tests remain for the club, which hosts the University of Tennessee on Saturday and Murray State on March 12 ahead of the Challenge Cup.
