Led by Racing Louisville Academy’s Betsy Huckaby, Racing Louisville FC’s W League team came back to defeat Lexington SC 2-1 Sunday at Georgetown College’s Toyota Stadium.
Louisville’s record now stands at 4-1-1 in the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s soccer circuit.
Lexington’s Kailey Utley opened the scoring right before halftime when she converted a penalty in the 41st minute.
Racing responded in the 61st minute when Huckaby turned and finished a service from Ella Sanchez. Huckaby scored again in the 84th minute off a through-ball from Kaitlyn Rowlett to complete the comeback.
With the result, Racing (13 points) remains in second in the Valley Division, three points behind Indy Eleven (16 points). The first-place finisher from each division will advance to the USL W League playoffs in July.
With a roster comprised of college standouts and Racing youth academy talents, the club is six games through a 10-match W League campaign. Next up, Louisville will return home Wednesday, for a match against Kings Hammer FC at 5 p.m.
Racing’s home W League games are open to the public and free to attend.
