Racing Louisville defender Tessa Dellarose was named to the USL W League Team of the Month for May, the W League announced Thursday.
Dellarose, a rising junior at the University of North Carolina, has played every minute this summer for Racing’s W League squad in the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s soccer league. The fullback rang up a goal and two assists in Racing’s May 22 win over Kings Hammer FC, leading a Racing squad comprised of college standouts and Racing Academy talents to its first victory of the season.
“Tessa has been a standout in our practices and games,” said Callie McKinney, Racing’s W League coach. “She has an incredible work rate and understands the game very well. She could not be more deserving of being on the W League team of the month.”
At UNC, Dellarose has one goal and three assists in 46 appearances and was named Third Team All-ACC in 2023 and an All-Freshman Team selection in 2022. She was also a member of the 2023 United States U-20 National Team that qualified for the 2024 U-20 World Cup.
Racing Louisville (1-1-1, 4 points) is currently in fourth place in the W League’s Valley Division. The first-place finisher from each division will compete the W League knockout tournament in July.
Up next, Racing will travel to Indianapolis for its first road match of the season, taking on Indy Eleven at 7 p.m. Friday at the Grand Park Events Center. Racing will return to the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center on Wednesday to host St. Charles FC at 4 p.m. Home matches are free to attend and open to the public.
