The Women’s Cup is back in Louisville this summer with three names on the global soccer stage set to join Racing Louisville FC at Lynn Family Stadium!
Italian powerhouse Juventus and South American stalwarts Palmeiras (Brazil) and Colo-Colo (Chile) are playing in what will be the third edition of The Women’s Cup in Louisville. The event is a knockout tournament contested over two days, with tickets purchased good for both games on a given match day.
Tuesday, August 13
Third-Place Game: Racing Louisville vs. Colo-Color (5 p.m.)
Final: Juventus vs. Palmeiras (8 p.m.)
Juventus joins the mix as the most accomplished of the three visiting teams for The Women’s Cup, with five Serie A trophies to couple with three Coppa Italia crowns. Le Bianconere feature Canadian gold medalist Julia Grosso and 2017 European champion Lineth Beerensteyn, a Dutch forward.
The tournament will also mark the reunion of Racing Louisville’s midfielder and Brazilian star midfielder Ary Borges with her former club, Palmeiras. The Brazilian club won the 2022 Copa Libertadores, the premier club competition in South America, and reached the final in 2023.
Like Palmeiras, Colo-Colo Femenino has won the Copa Libertadores, claiming the 2012 title as the champion of South America – the first for a non-Brazilian side. Chilean national team legend Yanara Aedo is currently the Chilean Campeonato Nacional Fútbol Femenino’s leading scorer.
The August edition of The Women’s Cup follows February’s TWC event in Calí, Colombia, that featured Racing Louisville and reigning NWSL champion NJ/NY Gotham FC against Colombian powers América de Cali and Deportivo Cali. Gotham topped Racing in the TWC Colombia final.
It was the third time Racing has appeared in a TWC final, having claimed the inaugural TWC trophy with a final win over Bayern Munich in 2021 in Louisville before falling to Seattle’s OL Reign in the 2022 final at Lynn Family Stadium.
