Racing Louisville FC forward Emma Sears has been called up to the United States Women’s National Team for its upcoming October training camp, where it will face Spain — the current FIFA No. 1-ranked team in the world — twice.
Sears is one of 20 NWSL players to make Emma Hayes’ 26-player training camp roster.
To date, Sears has earned 21 caps for the United States since making her international debut on Oct. 27, 2024, recording six goals and three assists. The forward’s call-up to the USWNT’s first camp since June is her fifth of the calendar year.
Sears is Racing’s leader in goals plus assists this season with 12 (seven goals, five assists) through 25 appearances, which ties her career-high for goal contributions set last year.
Since she last played for the USWNT, Sears broke Louisville’s all-time scoring record (22) and became the first player in club history to record multiple braces.
The October camp will feature two blockbuster matchups against Spain — the reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. Spain, which recently qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup back in June, topped England, 1-0, in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
The USWNT is currently second in FIFA’s Women’s World Rankings, while Spain sits atop the rankings. The teams have faced each other just four times in their histories, with the United States winning the first three meetings. Spain won the most recent clash on Oct. 11, 2022, 2-0, in Pamplona, Spain.
The teams will first square off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. (TBS, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock), before a 7 p.m. ET finale on Oct. 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa. (TNT, HBO Max, Universo and Peacock).
“While we are very much looking forward to playing the World Cup champions, I keep coming back to the journey that we are all on together,” Hayes said, in a release. “This camp will be about reestablishing connections after a long break, looking at a few players who haven’t been with us this cycle, and putting on the best performances we can in front of packed stadiums.”
Sears and Racing have one more match before the international break: Saturday against Utah Royals FC at Lynn Family Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.
It will be Pink Night, in partnership with Humana, as the club raises breast cancer awareness and supports those impacted by the disease. For tickets and more information, visit RacingLouFC.com/pink.
