Following a trip out West, Racing Louisville FC head coach Bev Yanez elects to make four lineup changes for a 6:30 p.m. ET Friday encounter with San Diego Wave FC — one of the league’s most in-form sides.
This marks just the second time in Racing’s last eight matches that the club has made three or more lineup changes.
Of the four alterations, three come in the backline. Rookie Mirann Gacioch returns to the starting lineup at center back after two weeks on the bench. Friday’s match will mark her 13th career start.
Out wide, Rachel Hill and Makenna Morris will make up a brand-new wingback duo, coming in for Quincy McMahon and Ella Hase. Hill, a league veteran, is set to make her second start for Louisville this season against her former club. She recorded 15 starts for San Diego during its 2023 Shield-winning campaign. Morris picked up an assist in a start last month at home versus Boston Legacy FC.
Macey Hodge, who made her return from a yellow-card accumulation suspension last week off the bench, steps back into Racing’s starting midfield group versus the Wave. Hodge is poised to make her 19th appearance for Louisville this year after tallying 16 as a rookie with Angel City FC in 2025.
Racing’s two leading chance creators — Katie O’Kane and Lauren Milliet — fill in the other two midfield roles, alongside Hodge. Milliet appeared in her 140th career game against Bay last Sunday. O’Kane and Milliet are the only two field players to have already registered over 2,000 minutes this season.
Ellie Jean and captain Arin Wright retain their places in central defense, rounding out the backline with Gacioch. No Racing player has completed more passes since the beginning of September than Wright (90). Friday will be Jean’s 49th Louisville start. Only seven players in club history have made more than 50.
Goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer remains in net, needing just nine saves across the last five matches to hit the 100-save mark. If she saves six on Friday, Bloomer will surpass Michelle Betos for the second most saves in a single season in club history.
The dual threat up front looks a little different from last week. With Hodge’s inclusion, Sarah Weber moves higher up the pitch, pairing with Kayla Fischer to form the forward line. Weber does have three goals and an assist in 21 appearances in 2026. Fischer, who assisted on one of Louisville’s first-half goals against San Diego last month, is set to make her 81st appearance for Racing — moving into sole possession of second on the club’s all-time list.
Emma Sears will be among the list of available substitutes. She scored against the Wave in August last year in a 1-0 away triumph. Also starting on the bench is Audrey McKeen, back at Lynn Family Stadium for the first time since competing at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
