Racing Louisville FC’s W League team lost its first match of the season Tuesday by a 2-0 score to Indy Eleven at the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center.
Racing’s record now stands at 3-1-1 in the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s soccer circuit.
A pair of goals from the former University of Louisville forward Maisie Whitsett in the 13th and 55th minutes proved to be the difference in the match.
With the result, Racing (13 points) dropped to second in the Valley Division with Indy Eleven (16 pts.) taking over the top spot. The first-place finisher from each division will advance to the USL W League playoffs in July.
With a roster comprised of college standouts and Racing youth academy talents, the club is halfway through a 10-match W League campaign. Next up, Louisville will travel in-state to face Lexington SC at 4 p.m Sunday. The squad will return home Wednesday, June 14, for a match against Kings Hammer FC at 6 p.m.
Racing’s home W League games are open to the public and free to attend.
