In the hours leading up to the NWSL Draft, Paige Monaghan heard of the opportunity to join Racing in a trade that sent the NJ/NY Gotham FC winger and $150,000 in allocation money to Louisville in exchange for the club’s fourth overall pick.
“I honestly was excited because, one, the Midwest,” Monaghan said. “And two, I think that there’s a lot of great talent in Louisville. It would just be fun to play alongside of them.”
Following the trade, Monaghan spoke with WHAS11 about the opportunity she sees with her new club.
“I learned so much over this time,” Monaghan said, “but I think it’s now time to spread my wings to a different area, a different team, a different training facility and a different part of the country.”
