Racing Louisville FC’s USL W League team capped its inaugural campaign Saturday by defeating Flint City AFC away by a 3-0 score in Michigan.
Typically comprised of both college and academy standouts, Saturday’s starting lineup featured nine members of the Racing Louisville Youth Academy playing alongside the University of Louisville’s Patricia Ward and Autumn Weeks of the University of Louisville.
Racing’s first goal came in the 48th minute when Brooke Dawahare played the ball through to Maya Maxwell, who chipped Flint City’s goalkeeper.
Weeks doubled the lead in the 77th after she won the ball in the midfield, dribbled down the field and finished it into the back of the net. Minutes later, Ward netted Racing’s third.
With this result, Racing finished its first USL W League season with a 6-3-3 record (21 points), good for third in the Great Lakes division. Division winners will advance to the pre-professional circuit’s playoffs.
