Racing Louisville’s Pride Night is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, as Portland Thorns FC visits Lynn Family Stadium. The late summer date will serve as a lead in to the Sept. 9 Louisville Pride Festival, the Louisville Pride Foundation’s annual street fair.
Racing and Louisville City FC have launched a “Love All XI” campaign signifying the concurrence of their 11 players on a soccer pitch and the 11 colors of the Progress Pride Flag.
First circulated in 2018, the Progress Pride Flag includes the traditional pride flag’s six-color rainbow design, plus adds black, brown, light blue and pink stripes in a chevron pattern pointing forward. White space on the left of the flag signifies the headway still to be made.
Before the match, stop by Play Dance Bar, at 1101 E. Washington Street, to get a drink with some of the drag queens starting at 6. Then, follow the drag queens as they march to Lynn Family Stadium.
Free glitter will be available in the stadium’s Fan Zone, at the Waterfront/open end of the venue, starting at 6 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will receive rainbow pom poms.
Local drag queen Gilda Wabbit will lead the teams onto the field before performing the national anthem.
All proceeds from a line of team-branded Pride merchandise, available online and in Lynn Family Stadium’s Team Store, will go toward a pair of locally based organizations that will have a presence at Pride Night:
- Louisville Pride Foundation: The foundation seeks to promote unity between LGBTQ and straight allies by engaging in a conversation with the broader community about what makes us one while celebrating what makes us different.
- Louisville Youth Group: LYG creates a brave space for LGBTQIA+ Youth and Allies and is dedicated to providing youth with skills and experiences designed to help them thrive as community leaders now and in the future.
After the final whistle, head back to Play Dance Bar for the official Pride Night after party. Show your game ticket to get in free!
